Reindeers and Tsaatan culture

We emphasize the quality of human contacts and encounters with local people. Respect for the horse and local equestrian traditions, from which many lessons can be learnt. Shared adventures. To travel with Blue Wolf Travel means travel with the horses and the local people in the great outdoors, choosing the life of the nomad. It is an active holiday calling for some effort but with moments of complete relaxation and pleasure.

Day 1: To UB

Arrive Chinggis Airport and transfer to hotel.After lunch, citysightseeings.

Day 2: To Moron

Flight to Moron about one and an half hour.Meet our English speaking guide and jeep.Start a driving to north toward Ulaan-uul village/270kms/.On the way ,you will enjoy beautifull taiga mountains and the dense forests.Overnight in Ulaan-uul village with Batbayar’s family.Batbayar is local hunter with rifle. Day 3: Come to Samjin’s winter house

Today in midday,you reach road and met local reindeer people.The host’s name is Samjin.He is one of most respectfull old men of Tsaatan people.Samjin and his sons will be our horse rangers.Stay with family. (B,L,D)

Day 4: To Reindeers

Early morning we start horse ride toward high mountains.Only in the evening ,we reach the reindeers people,who live in tipy. (B,L,D)

Days 5-6: Stay with Reindeer family

Learn their everday life and their traditions as like milking reindeers, riding ,processing skins.Also you enjoy the beautifull nature.Reindeer people/Tsaatan/ are small ethnic group of Mongolia /about 600/.They follow shamanism and very believe in mysterious shamanist deeds and traditions. Day 7: Ride back to road end

Day 8: Drive to Moron

We should start our driving early morning  as possible.If we can not reach Moron same day,we will stay with local nomadic family.You can see easly how Mongolians are hospitality. (B,L,D)

Day 9: To UB

Fly to UB.Transfer to hotel. (B)

Day 10: Depart UB.

After breakfast,transfer to ChinggisKhaan airport.Depart UB.

Staff: A local guide who speaks English and Mongolian will accompany the group at all times. A cook will follow.  In addition, the services of the local herdsmen will be hired along with their animals. The horsemen follow a traditional lifestyle in the areas where we will be traveling.

Meals: Our cook will prepare the meals.  We pride ourselves in having cooks adapt to both western and Mongolian cooking on our trips. We have no problem accommodating vegetarians on our trips.

The climate: Mongolia has very cold winters and conditions similar to above the Sibirian  should be expected. Mongolia has the world’s highest atmospheric pressure, allowing for blue skies throughout the winter. Hence, there is usually little precipitation, which in turn enables nomads to have 30 million head of livestock on natural winter pastures in the winter. Cattle remain in the outdoors throughout the winter. In February the weather usually 5 to 15 degrees centigrade subzero in the daytime, and around 20-25 degrees subzero at night.

To bring: It is essential to bring appropriate thermo wear and a winter sleeping bag.
